At 26 gestational weeks, after an amniocentesis and genetic testing, he was diagnosed with Diastrophic Dysplasia, a rare type of dwarfism.

Now 8 years old, our son Kai is happy, healthy, and enjoying life.

The purpose of this blog is to lend support and encouragement to others in similar situations and to share the tremendous experiences we've had and will continue to have as we raise our little, little boy.

Holiday Fun

During the 2011 Holiday season, Mr. Kai stayed busy...

frosting sugar cookies

Eating candy canes and then napping in front of the TV

and traveling to Seattle (for your well-being this event was not photographed)

and dressing up as a shepherd (which only lasted a few seconds)

And opening his ONE gift on Christmas Eve (pajamas).

Christmas morning!
Santa filled Kai's stocking with all kinds of fun Cars gear as well as candy, candy, candy.

He got lots of fun gifts but his favorite was from Auntie Carrie--a car keeper and racetrack (between Kai and me in the picture).

We celebrated New Year's in Salem.  Kai stayed awake long enough to ring in the new year (we payed for that the next day when he was cra-anky!).

CUTE! I'm so jealous that we never get to spend any time together. Kai is getting so big and Ashley is SO tall! We all miss you very much. :)
