At 26 gestational weeks, after an amniocentesis and genetic testing, he was diagnosed with Diastrophic Dysplasia, a rare type of dwarfism.

Now 8 years old, our son Kai is happy, healthy, and enjoying life.

The purpose of this blog is to lend support and encouragement to others in similar situations and to share the tremendous experiences we've had and will continue to have as we raise our little, little boy.

Fast asleep... legs in the air.

The back stairs are right off the laundry room.  I folded these blankets and stacked them at the bottom of the stairs, intending to take them the next time I went upstairs.  In the meantime Kai found them and made a "snest" (nest).  He lay there for a long time, watching the leaves on the trees.

This is our humble little garden.  Three (surviving) corn plants, two tomato plants, two bean plants, two pepper plants and a zucchini plant.

I pulled weeds, he dug holes.  It was perfect.

My funny little gardener.  What a sweet, delightful boy!
