At 26 gestational weeks, after an amniocentesis and genetic testing, he was diagnosed with Diastrophic Dysplasia, a rare type of dwarfism.

Now 8 years old, our son Kai is happy, healthy, and enjoying life.

The purpose of this blog is to lend support and encouragement to others in similar situations and to share the tremendous experiences we've had and will continue to have as we raise our little, little boy.

our entire roadtrip summed up in 100 words and 3 pictures

We loooove our family.  Good food, lots of laughing, hugging, talking, card playing, more laughing--what's not to love?

We got together last week to celebrate my baby brother Christian's graduation from high school.  The kids and I  drove 650 miles (well, mostly I drove) to get to my parents' house in tiny Driggs, Idaho.

And that's when the fun began.  Unfortunately for you, this is the extent of my photographic proof of our good time:

 Kai sportin' Christian's glasses.

Kai, waiting to hug his favorite Auntie Aubry.

As my mom so aptly said it, "This is TRUE rapture!"

I love the new pic of the boy on his blog - there is no way he is old enough to look like such a little man!
