At 26 gestational weeks, after an amniocentesis and genetic testing, he was diagnosed with Diastrophic Dysplasia, a rare type of dwarfism.

Now 8 years old, our son Kai is happy, healthy, and enjoying life.

The purpose of this blog is to lend support and encouragement to others in similar situations and to share the tremendous experiences we've had and will continue to have as we raise our little, little boy.

Coughing

The girls got sick over Christmas break and now Kai is sick, too.  He's been coughing for the past few nights and every time he coughs it scares me.  Last winter was so scary; I am terrified it will happen again.

After Grant's last hospital stay I'm really worried about him getting sick too. We'll keep Kai in our prayers!

I was sent to your blog by Kai's grandmother. What a sweet boy! I wonder how you get anything done; you must want to sit and squeeze him all day. I hope he stays well and out of the hospital!!
