At 26 gestational weeks, after an amniocentesis and genetic testing, he was diagnosed with Diastrophic Dysplasia, a rare type of dwarfism.

Now 8 years old, our son Kai is happy, healthy, and enjoying life.

The purpose of this blog is to lend support and encouragement to others in similar situations and to share the tremendous experiences we've had and will continue to have as we raise our little, little boy.

Mileena loves finger foods as well and eats them the same way they figure out how to use those little fingers some how..she like to grip them between her thumb and index finger and stick her whole hand in her mouth. But he does really well he's so adorable with his pretty big eyes. Ive tried commenting you before about Mileena also being a DD baby but i didnt get a reply would love to keep following your blog if thats ok. Kai is doing great!!

Hello Chelsea!

Your Kai is so sweet! I was going to write you before adding you to my blog list, but as I'm just beginning with this blogging thing I wasn't sure what exactly I was doing.

Anyway, I'm very happy to have contact with you. I found your blog looking for information on diastrophic dysplasia. I have been following it for some time now and I think it's really great. It helped me in some difficult moments I was living through. Actually you and Stacy and recently also Mileena's mom inspired me to create Hania's blog. And now I'm really enjoying it, but I've just started and there is still a lot of work to do to make up for the past months.

Take care and a huge kiss for Kai from Hania :)!

I love the pictures! Sonya also enjoys Gerber's puffs! Her other absolute favorite is Gerber's freeze dried yogurt puffs! Looks like Kai really had fun eating them up!

He is getting so big, I can't believe it! Grant uses his bottle for comfort mostly now, he loves his baby food. We can't try finger foods for a while because of his cleft palate. I stopped nursing my daughter around 6 months, and Grant was never able to so I didn't ever have to experience the teeth issues, hopefully Kai will give you a break soon!...sounds painful!

Such sweet pictures!! Kai is so adorable - just love his big beautiful eyes! Simon still loves puffs!
Good luck with continuing to nurse! Simon didn't have teeth yet while I was nursing him, but I've told that you if you tell your little one "no" and stop the feeding that they quickly learn not to bite.
