At 26 gestational weeks, after an amniocentesis and genetic testing, he was diagnosed with Diastrophic Dysplasia, a rare type of dwarfism.

Now 8 years old, our son Kai is happy, healthy, and enjoying life.

The purpose of this blog is to lend support and encouragement to others in similar situations and to share the tremendous experiences we've had and will continue to have as we raise our little, little boy.

The boy has a tooth! For the past few days Kai has been cranky--which is HIGHLY unusual. Even when he was sick with a fever a few weeks ago, he was happy and smiling and as wiggly as ever. Because his crankiness was so unusual I knew it could only mean one thing: teeth. And today during church I saw it!

Poor Kai. It is so sad when they cry and you have no idea why. I guess it is like a treasure hunt just have to check every functioning part of his body to figure out what is going on :)
