At 26 gestational weeks, after an amniocentesis and genetic testing, he was diagnosed with Diastrophic Dysplasia, a rare type of dwarfism.

Now 8 years old, our son Kai is happy, healthy, and enjoying life.

The purpose of this blog is to lend support and encouragement to others in similar situations and to share the tremendous experiences we've had and will continue to have as we raise our little, little boy.

Boy Toy

These are some pictures of Kai with his favorite toy. I'm so glad we found this thing (at Burlington Coat Factory, of all places). Most toys are too small for him to hold with both hands. This one is nice and wide. I made him a "nest" on the couch and put the toy on a pillow where he could see and reach it easily and be played happily for quite a while.

He is just too cute! I had (and sometimes still have) difficulty finding toys for Parker. I usually take him to the store with me to try them out.

He is so adroable. Those eyes are so expressive! He looks so comfy in his little "nest!"

He is so adorable! Great toy - you can tell he loves it! Simon had a couple of similar wide toys that he loved since they were easy for him to hold as well.

did Kai have a sleep study done? Grant did and they've got me all worried about Apnea now. Love the toy, by the way. I need to find something like that for Grant.
